Value Delivered

EMCOR Construction Services Midwest (ECS Midwest) worked with Mount Vernon Community School Corporation on a guaranteed savings contract (GSC) to improve energy efficiency. ECS Midwest identified areas where energy efficiency might be easily improved throughout the high school and then showed Mount Vernon how to use those energy savings to pay for the project.

In addition, all work was executed during second shift hours or scheduled breaks so as not to interfere with the learning experience.

Client Objectives

Mount Vernon Community Schools wanted to upgrade the lighting to be more sustainable and use energy efficient bulbs.

Solutions

The scope of work included:

  • Removal of all existing light bulbs (other than in the gymnasium). All fixtures were then equipped with energy efficient light emitting diodes (LED).
  • The retrofitted areas included hallways and corridors, classrooms, multi-media rooms, workspaces, and all exterior lighting, including in the student and teacher parking lots.
