Value Delivered
As part of the progressive design-build team, EMCOR Construction Services Midwest (ECS Midwest) worked with the team to create and confirm the project’s basis of design, programming requirements and design. We assisted with cost, schedule, quality, operability, life cycle, and other considerations to help ensure that the owner’s budgetary requirements were achieved.
Client Objectives
Due to declining student enrollment, Blackford County Schools implemented a consolidation plan that reduced the number of buildings from six to four. This project, that included the addition of a new gymnasium and associated renovations, represented the first step to integrating the junior high into the high school.
Solutions
This project was comprised of a 23,000 square foot PE/athletics addition and 4,000 square foot interior renovation, including a new junior high auxiliary gym and a 2,500 square foot weight room. Existing locker rooms were reconfigured into offices and concessions, and the boys’ and girls’ locker rooms were upgraded. The former weight room now serves as a new JROTC classroom space.
ECS Midwest, along with sister companies Havel and Shambaugh, provided:
- Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design and engineering
- Installation of MEP systems and equipment
- Low voltage electrical system
- Temperature controls system
- Fire protection system
