$313,858 in guaranteed annual savings over 10 years on operational, maintenance and energy expenses – enough to cover all project costs in slightly more than six years; greater HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) control and reliability; improved building air quality and comfort; lower classroom background noise levels; upgraded lighting; renovated ceilings; self-performance reliability; single-source accountability; ongoing economies, efficiencies and investment returns.
Replace mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems dating back to 1958 with new, more energy-efficient technologies.
To help this client achieve its objectives, ECS Midwest self performed all mechanical, electrical and plumbing work, streamlining the project and simplifying the district’s project oversight tasks.
To improve classroom air conditioning and reduce background noise levels, ECS Midwest experts equipped the 75,000-square-foot building with a four-pipe HVAC system and a high efficiency air-cooled chiller. They also installed a demand-control ventilation system that adjusts according to carbon dioxide levels, as well as variable volume pumping and vertical unit ventilators with face and bypass dampers.
In addition, ECS Midwest replaced the school’s old pneumatic controls with direct digital technology, increasing system responsiveness and maximizing energy management. Furthermore, in this and all of the district’s other elementary schools, company technicians provided energy-efficient control sequences that not only reduce energy consumption and costs, but also improve indoor air quality and building comfort.
At the same time, the company installed occupancy sensors in the classrooms, and integrated them with the HVAC system and new, upgraded lighting. To complete the scope of work, ECS Midwest replaced the school’s old ceiling grids with a new system. The result is energy efficient, high-performance building systems that reduce costs while significantly improving the learning environment.
